This new endeavor will examine the importance and effects of specific products, protocols and strategies relating to innovative bed bug treatment applications. The dramatic rise in bed bug infestations throughout the country in the last ten years has created a need for more research to improve and expand pest management practices. Based on mutual agreement between The Ohio State University and Allergy Technologies, this grant provides a 2^nd year renewal opportunity for an additional $100,000+ in funding.

 

According to Susan Jones, Ph.D., entomologist at The Ohio State University, the grant provided by Allergy Technologies will allow Jones and her urban entomology team to pursue sorely needed bed bug-related research leading to implementation of new and improved strategies for controlling bed bugs.

 

“This grant will enable us to embark upon important and in-depth research on product efficacy, treatment protocols, and application methods as we work to control bed bugs,” said Dr. Jones. “With the current emergence of bed bug infestations, Allergy Technologies' sponsorship will allow us to pursue fundamental lab and applied field research. This programmatic research is geared toward investigating novel strategies in bed bug treatment leading to improved and effective solutions.”

Ambler, PA (April 20, 2010) – Allergy Technologies, LLC and Pestmaster Services of Kingston, NY donated ActiveGuard mattress liners to The Washington Manor/The Queens Galley, a shelter and soup kitchen for homeless adults in Kingston. ActiveGuard mattress liners proactively kill bed bugs and prevent infestations on mattresses, box springs and sofa beds. 

 

A recent bed bug infestation at the shelter prompted Washington Manor administrator Diane Reeder to seek the help of Paul Alley, President of Pestmaster Services of Kingston. Alley and his team of pest management professionals (PMPs) partnered with Allergy Technologies to donate a bed bug treatment to the entire facility, which included ActiveGuard. 

 

“We are very grateful to Pestmaster and Allergy Technologies,” Reeder said. “This donation of time and products to rid our facility of bed bugs will help improve the health and quality of life of our residents.” 

 

ActiveGuard mattress liners, which come in four sizes, are made of a soft, odorless, and durable material that can easily be installed over a mattress by one individual. The product kills bed bugs for up to two years.
